Covering an Exposed Root Via Gum Grafting in Portsmouth, NH
Our patient had severe recession on her lower left canine due to both overbrushing and absence of the bicuspid tooth that is normally next to it. This allowed food and her toothbrush to scrape against the tooth excessively. Using a microsurgical grafting technique, we were able to completely cover the exposed root and thicken the gum tissue to resist future recession. Ideally, she should now have an implant placed to restore the missing bicuspid. This will improve her chewing function and further protect her gums.
