Gingival Grafting With Enamel and Root Defects

Believe it or not, you can brush your teeth so vigorously that you wear away not only your gum tissue and root surfaces, but also your enamel, which is the hardest substance in your body. We cannot cover damaged enamel with a gum graft, so today’s case shows as perfect a result as we could achieve using the gold standard approach (tunneling connective tissue grafting). There is still a small amount of enamel uncovered, but all exposed root surfaces are covered, and the new tissue will prevent future recession, assuming that our patient begins brushing judiciously.
Be nice to your teeth and gums!

Every patient is unique and we strive to create comprehensive treatment plans tailored to you.
