First molars are the largest tooth in the mouth and are also common sites for gum recession. Since they are so important for chewing and for stability of the dental arch and occlusion (bite), it is important to preserve their bone and gum tissue. Using a microsurgical connective tissue graft, we were able to return our patient’s gumline to the ideal position and to minimize the chance of further recession.
