Replacing Missing Bicuspid Teeth With a Sinus Lift Bone Graft and Dental Implants in Portsmouth, NH

Our patient was missing several back teeth, and the increased chewing forces on her remaining teeth caused her upper right second bicuspid (the last tooth on the x-ray on the left) to fracture. Because her molars had been missing for several years, her sinus had expanded into her upper jaw. We rebuilt her lost bone with a lateral sinus lift (bone graft), as you can see on the middle x-ray (the new bone looks like a cotton ball in the sinus). Her remaining first bicuspid became loose due to excessive chewing forces and needed to be extracted. So we ended up replacing both bicuspids with implants as you can see on the final x-ray on the right.
Keeping back teeth is important! And so is replacing them if they are lost, both to preserve chewing function and also to avoid losing additional teeth.

Every patient is unique and we strive to create comprehensive treatment plans tailored to you.
